Meet the Staff at North Carroll Dental

  • Dr.
    Lawrence R. Whitney

    Dr. Whitney is a graduate of McDaniel College and a graduate of Maryland Dental School. He has served the Hampstead community practicing dentistry for over 30 years. His time is now divided between his dental practice and serving on the Dean's Faculty at the University of Maryland Dental school teaching in the field of preclinical fixed prosthodontics.

    Dr. Whitney worked with the Carroll County Health Department to start a fluoride rinse program throughout the schools. He worked with the PTA to go over the fluoride rinse program and he is a participant in the Carroll County Access Program.

    He has been the Maryland Chairman for The American Fund for Dental Health, Vice President of the Maryland State Dental Association, and member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy (a dental honor society chosen by dentists) since 2002. He also helped form the Carroll County Dentist Society and served as the first president. He was on The Board of Governors of Maryland State Dental Association, Board of Trustees (6 years) and House of Delegates (15 years) and has been inducted into The International College of Dentistry, an international dental honor society.

    Dr. Whitney and his wife Carolyn have two children, Dinyee and Larry, and three grandchildren. Their life activities revolve around their faith, family, and friends.

  • Dr.
    Vilija Mickute

    Dr. Vilija Mickute (Vi-li-ya Mits-koo-teh) was born in Lithuania and moved to the United States as a child. She received her bachelor’s degree in the Russian language and business from Georgetown University. She then went on to the University of Maryland School of Dentistry where she graduated first in her class, summa cum laude. She was also honored by being inducted into the Phi Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor's Society, Gorgas Odontological Society, and the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society. Afterward she completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency also at the University of Maryland. During her residency she was awarded the Harry W.F. Dressel, Jr. Award for being the top resident in her class.

    Providing robotic treatment has never been in her routine while dealing with people on such an intimate level. Her treatment of patients has always been accompanied by compassion and a constant attempt to have a thorough understanding of each individual’s needs. Dr. Mickute keeps up to date with the most current guidelines and technology in dentistry. She is a member of American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Maryland State Dental Association, and Carroll County Dental Society.

    She and her husband live in Sykesville with their two kids and mini doxen. She takes pleasure in traveling, especially to visit her family and childhood home in Lithuania

  • Dr. Adrian Batchelor

    Dr. Batchelor was born in South Africa, grew up in England, and spent some time in Australia, making his accent hard to place, but fun to listen to.

    Dr. Batchelor graduated from the University of Maryland Dental school in 2011 and was a Dean's list student. He also completed a one year Advanced Dentistry residency at UMD in which he shared a bay with Dr. Mickute. Dr. Batchelor has considerable experience working in the community treating special needs patients in nursing homes. 

    Dr. Batchelor also does research and consulting at Walter Reed Army Research Institute in Silver Spring. He met his wife Daniela, during his postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins. He enjoys cycling, hiking with his wife and their dog Moxie, and is President of a Friday evening darts group.

  • Kim, RDH

    Kim obtained her Registered Dental Hygiene degree from Baltimore City Community College. She joined Dr. Whitney's dental team in 2008 and appreciates the friendly and comfortable environment. You will find Kim is very gentle and will make you feel at ease right away. She likes to take as many classes as she can to learn about the newest dental hygiene techniques to help improve oral health. In her spare time, Kim really enjoys visiting new places with her family, going to see new movies and taking her dog for long walks.

  • Marcy, RDH

    Marcy was born in Pennsylvania and lived the majority of her life in Pottstown, PA before moving to Maryland in 1996. She graduated from Montgomery County Community College in 1979 with her degree in dental hygiene. Marcy is married to Jim and they have a son, Nate, and daughter, Ashley. They also have two dogs, Sasha and Floyd. Ashley and her husband reside in Union Bridge and Nate and his wife live in Colorado.

    Marcy’s husband’s job brought them to Maryland in 1996 and Marcy received her dental hygiene license in Maryland at that time. Marcy spent 10 of her 39 years in pediatric dentistry and the remaining years in family dentistry. Marcy continues to keep up with continuing education courses to learn new things and keep up with the current world of dentistry. After 39 years, she still loves what she does. By treating patients in her gentle and caring way she loves helping them to genuinely enjoy coming to the dentist.

    In Marcy’s spare time you may find her riding horses with her daughter, mucking stalls, walking or grooming her dogs, scrapbooking, doing crafts, making puzzles, visiting shut-ins and friends, just relaxing at home, or enjoying time with her family. Marcy and Jim have quite a few grandchildren of the furry persuasion, including: two dogs, three cats, and a pig. Marcy loves her animals as much as she loves getting to know people which is her favorite part of the job.

  • Erin, RDH

    Erin joined our team at the beginning of 2019, she has been in the dentistry field for 12 years now and absolutely loves what she does. She received her training as a registered dental hygienist at Baltimore City Community College and enjoys taking continuing education classes to help stay current with the latest dental technology. Erin chose dentistry because she loves teeth and has a desire to help educate people on good oral health. Her kind and gentle demeanor, along with her contagious smile, help ease patient anxiety. In her spare time, Erin enjoys spending time with her significant other Mark and their son Anthony, as well as, traveling, going to concerts, trying out new restaurants and participating in outdoor activities.
